The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power by Jeff Sharlet tells the story of a secret evangelical organization also know as The Fellowship, or the Christian mafia. Headed by Doug Coe, who now is semi-retired according to Sharlet, the Family sponsors the National Prayer Breakfast each February in Washington, D. C.. Before Sharlet’s book was published, NBC reported on The Family in this clip. Video tape obtained by Sharlet and NBC, shows Doug Coe invoking the names of Hitler and Mao as examples of leadership and commitment.
